E-Waste Direct is a UK scrap-IT and e-waste buyer based in Rochdale. We pay per-piece for whole gear and per-kilo for stripped materials, collect across the UK, and pay by bank transfer same week. We are a trading name of Pyco Renew Ltd.
What we do
We buy end-of-life IT equipment and components, weigh it in on calibrated scales, and pay you. Then we sort, partly resell to refurbishers, partly send to UK/EU refineries for metal recovery. We don't melt anything on site — we sort and ship.
Two pricing models:
- Per piece (Complete Units) — whole desktops, servers, laptops, switches, phones, APC units. Quick to weigh in, no stripping needed.
- Per kilo (Materials) — stripped components: RAM, CPUs, PCBs, sockets, heatsinks. Higher payout per item but requires work upfront.
Where we operate
Our facility is at Unit D13, Fieldhouse Industrial Estate, Rochdale OL12 0AA. We're open Mon–Fri 09:00–17:00 for drop-offs, weigh-ins, and walk-ins.
Free collection across the UK on loads over 50 kg or 20 units:
- Standard route (no minimum beyond 50kg): North West, M62 corridor (Liverpool ↔ Hull), London, Birmingham via M6
- Mainland UK on loads over 250 kg — we cover freight anywhere from Cornwall to Inverness
- Smaller lots: post in with any UK carrier — we credit return postage on anything we end up returning

- Compliant with the UK Scrap Metal Dealers Act 2013 — bank transfer only, photo ID + proof of address required on first sale
- Waste Transfer Notes (WTNs) issued on request for every collection
- Drive shredding and wipe certificates available for sensitive media (NIST 800-88 compatible)
What we don't do
- We don't buy monitors — LCD/CRT/plasma are WEEE-regulated. Here's why and where to take them →
- We don't pay cash — bank transfer only (legal requirement, not a preference)
- We don't melt or smelt on site — we sort and ship to licensed refineries
- We don't quote refurb prices — for working high-value gear (modern CPUs, GPUs, RAM kits), sell refurb instead. We're scrap.
